About the role

NIST published its first post-quantum standards in 2024, and regulators now expect banks, insurers and infrastructure operators to plan their migration. Most organisations do not yet know where cryptography sits in their systems. This research role builds the methods we use to find out. You develop inventory approaches, assess which data and systems are most exposed, and write migration roadmaps with client architects. You also follow standardisation work and publish practical guidance for our consultants and clients.

What you will do

• Develop methods and tooling requirements for cryptographic inventories across applications and infrastructure
• Assess client exposure, data lifetimes and dependencies on vendors and protocols
• Write migration roadmaps covering crypto-agility, hybrid schemes and vendor readiness
• Follow NIST, IETF, BSI, ENISA and ETSI work and summarise what changes for clients
• Write internal guidance and occasional public papers on migration practice

What you bring

• PhD or equivalent research experience in cryptography, computer security or mathematics
• Good knowledge of ML-KEM, ML-DSA and SLH-DSA and of classical public key schemes
• Understanding of how TLS, PKI and code signing are used in enterprise systems
• Ability to explain complex topics to architects and management
• Strong written English

Good to have

• Experience in an industry or consulting setting alongside research
• Contributions to IETF or open-source cryptographic libraries
